A4: Equations and Formulae

A4.1

In the A2 section you will have learned to solve simple linear equations. In this section we will be doing the same but with slightly harder equations.
First you will need to know about cross-multiplying

Cross-Multiplying

Is where you have two fractions with different denominators and need to turn into a more simple fraction.
Like this:
external image gif.latex?%5Cfrac%7B3x+8%7D%7B3%7D=%5Cfrac%7B5x+5%7D%7B6%7D

So, to cross multiply you end up getting:

external image gif.latex?3(5x+5)
and
external image gif.latex?6(3x+8)

so:

external image gif.latex?3(5x+5)=6(3x+8)
