John von Neumann

John von Neumann is considered to be 'the last great mathematican' of the 20th century. He was involved in many areas of mathematics, including set theory, game theory, and computing. He was involved in both pure and applied mathematics and published many papers during his lifetime.

He worked out an innovation to the hydrogen bomb that could possible have changed history, but it was only fully understood after the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs had been detonated.
